2-colorful-parrotAfter looking around for a high quality kind of parrot food that I might be able to get for my parrot, I spent a good amount of time reading ingredients and looking at the qualifications of the different kinds of foods that were out there. It was really easy for me to be able to find some high quality products that I could feed to my pet, but many of these weren’t as high quality as they seemed.

2-bird-pelletsBefore I could start feeding my parrot, I had to make sure that I had a really great understanding of parrot nutrition. I knew that a mixed and varied diet was important, but I wasn’t completely sure what kinds of items I should include in his diet. To make sure that I could feed him the right way, I took time to read up on nutrition before I even brought my bird home at all.

It was really easy for me to find some different types of foods that were made to feed to parrots, but on top of this, I made sure to get him a lot of organic produce that he could eat as well. While the different types of bird pellets were a good base for his diet, he needed to also be able to have access to fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. I spent a lot of time finding these for him.

My bird is extremely healthy thanks to the diet that I have him on. It is great to know that I am able to keep my bird healthy just by taking the time to make sure that I am feeding him really great types of foods that he can enjoy eating while getting all the nutrients that he needs.

Organic Bird Pellets Are a Big Win for My Parrot

1 african grey parrot 5-3Birds were naturally from the wild, so it makes sense that they would like things that are closer to nature. My parrot always likes it when I give him organic and all natural foods, for example. When I tried something that wasn’t organic, he actually wouldn’t touch it! Parrots know, you know. They know what’s worth eating and what isn’t.

So from then on, I got my parrot organic bird pellets as his daily meal. They’re super nutritious pellets that any parrot would love. It’s no wonder why he likes them, because they’re made out of all natural ingredients. He gets a taste of nature every time he bites into a pellet. It’s the ideal food for any pet parrot.

Of course, I also like giving my parrot treats every once in a while. He really likes nuts and fruits in particular. So while I give him organic bird pellets daily, I know my parrot likes some variation now and then. He’s almost human in my mind, and I couldn’t see me eating the same thing every day for the rest of my life.

Keep Your Bird Healthy and Happy with the Right Toys and Bird Pellets

tops parrot food 2 3-11-16Most bird owners recognize the importance of investing in a roomy cage. A parrot or parakeet’s dwelling should be large enough to accommodate the stretching of wings as well as some lateral movement. People certainly don’t appreciate being cooped up for extended periods in an enclosed space, and birds are no different. But did you know that the interior decor is just as important as the cage space itself?

Decor might not be the right word, exactly, as it implies that birds have an eye for aesthetics. In truth, they appreciate having the ability to stay occupied during long stretches of time when they’re left alone. Hanging bird toys such as bells add an element of fun to an otherwise austere cage. Small though their brains may be, birds still have a desire to stay busy; bird toys provide an outlet for that desire. And, of course, always be sure that there are fresh bird pellets available to your avian friend.

Why we put alfalfa in TOP’s pellets

Alfalfa

As an advocate for whole food, instead supplements, alfalfa is one of my favorites. that is why our TOP’s pellets for parrots contain a good amount of it.

The Alfalfa leafs are loaded with health building properties. Their contents are not only balanced for complete absorption, but they help assimilate protein, calcium and other nutrients, break down poisonous carbon dioxide, clean the body, fight infections, balance hormones, eases inflammation and work as a natural deodorizer.

Alfalfa leafs which are the richest land source of trace minerals, eliminate retained water from the body and relieve urinary problems.

The high contents in Vitamin A, K, and D, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and eight essential enzymes make it one of the most wholesome plants we have on this earth. It also contains B-complex , chlorophyll, amino acids, copper, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, alpha- and beta –carotene,

The slightly toxic amino acid present in the seeds can be eliminated by sprouting them.

Totally Organics TOP Pellets news

parrot pellets

Over the last  year the number of our customers increased, who voiced that they love TOP pellets, but would be happy if we could remove the corn. They were concerned about allergies. During the same time period, mycotoxins seemed to become more and more of an issue. Though, corn is a good source of fiber, folate, vitamins B and C and potassium, it is also the second most prevalent ingredient in foods processed in the US today. Not only in human food, but in parrot food too. At the same time corn allergies seem to become more common; in humans and in parrots. It looks like corn is one of the foods which, when eaten daily, can trigger allergies.

After researching this issue for a while and consulting with nutritionists, we decided to change the TOP pellets formula and replace the corn with a higher amount rice, millet and alfalfa. To be able to sell our pellets in all states we took the amaranth out. In some states amaranth is not allowed in pet food. We also replaced the barley grass and wheat grass powder with nettle leafs and kelp.

And here is the new recipe of the organic TOP Pellets:

Rice, hulled millet, barley, alfalfa leafs, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, quinoa, buckwheat, dandelion leaf, nettle leaf, carrot powder, spinach powder, purple dulse, kelp, rose hips (powder and crushed leafs), orange and lemon peel powder, rosemary, cayenne, red chilli.
Crude Protein min 13.02%, Crude Fiber min 12%, Fat min 7%.

Our birds here love the new formula. We hope yours will too. Oh, one of our trial customers said that the pellets taste great.
