When I first got my parrot, he was coming from a situation where he had really been neglected overall. I knew that it was extremely important for me to be able to use the right kinds of items to get him into much better health. The start was getting him on a healthy diet so that he would be able to live a much longer and better life with me.

He had been eating mostly junk food before, so getting him transitioned to eating what a healthy parrot was meant to eat was a bit difficult. It was necessary to reward him sometimes with the food that he liked, while getting him to eat as much healthy parrot food as was possible. I really enjoyed being able to spend a bit of time working with my parrot and getting him the food he needed.

Now that my parrot is able to get a lot more healthy food on a regular basis, I feel that I really am taking much better care of him. I am hopeful that I will be able to get him on the track of being a much healthier parrot as I continue to care for him in this way.

nutritional parrot foodWhen I recently started to spend just a bit of time looking around and trying to find the right kinds of foods that I could feed to my pet parrot, I was really glad to be able to find a wide selection of different types of parrot food options out there. The food that I had been feeding my parrot had been discontinued, leaving me to search for something new to use.

I took a really long time for me to settle on any kind of food that I felt as good about. My bird needed to be able to have just the right kind of food so that he would be able to stay healthy all of the time. Getting him great food that would work wonderfully was so important for me, which is why I held out for nutritional parrot food that I knew my parrot would love.

With the new food that I can use with my parrot, I am able to keep my parrot feeling healthy all of the time. It is good to be able to give my parrot some occasional treats as well, but having great food to feed to him most of the time is something that is so important.

Cinnamon, yummy and a lethal killer for ecoli

My parrots love cinnamon. And many researches, done over the last 20 years, found it is a lethal killer of ecoli. It happens every so often that we get a warning about drinking water contamination with ecoli. By the time it reaches the customer, we might have consumed some of it. Or you hear that it is found in some food, which now has to be recalled. Knowing you (your Fids and kids) have had cinnamon on a regular base can keep your mind at peace, when it comes to ecoli.

I feed it several times a week in different foods for the parrot and me. I buy the ‘real’, the Ceylon cinnamon from Sri Lanka.

But that is not all. Cinnamon also has anti fungal, antibacterial, anti inflammatory and antiviral properties and lowers blood glucose and cholesterol.

something which is so yummy and has so many benefits should be in every bodies parrot food.

BTW it is one ingredient of the Tesoro Treat

Slippery Elm powder

The inner bark of the Slippery Elm is an official drug in the United States Pharmacopoeia.

In the old days it was widely known, but the Native Americans used it the most. They made a beverage from the ground-up tree bark that was soothing to an inflamed alimentary canal and also very nutritious. The Native Americans also used it as a healing salve. Until not too long ago, Slippery Elm was part of home-made baby foods and a common remedy for digestive disorders.

Today Slippery Elm is one of the most valuable remedies in the herbal pharmacy. The powder contains an abundance of tannins and mucilage, which have both an astringent and anti-inflammatory effect. It is soothing and healing to all parts it comes in contact with. All areas that it reaches are rejuvenated, coated, and protected from irritations such as inflammations and infections. When all other foods fail, Slippery Elm is well tolerated by the stomach and can reestablish harmony in inflamed intestines within hours to a day.

Slippery Elm does several things at the same time; absorbs impurities and toxins and helps them to pass harmlessly out of the body, while nourishing the whole body and assisting the activity of the adrenal glands.

I often ad a little to the parrot food to boost the nutritional value.

It can be difficult for me to make sure that my bird is given good quality food since I don’t have the money to spend on food all of the time. Still, getting food that is right for my bird is something that takes precedence for me.

Most of what my bird eats is some normal seed that is very good for him on the whole. I only buy organic bird seed because I want to make sure that I am able to keep my bird as healthy as possible. Of course, picking out other items for him to eat like fruits and vegetables is also really important. For this reason, I have spent a lot of time looking for organic fruits my bird likes.

By providing my bird with a diet that is diverse, I am able to make sure that he can stay a lot healthier. I love to be able to find some different kinds of items that I can use whenever I feed my bird. Getting him just the right kinds of foods is something that is absolutely essential to me.
