1 bird seedI think our pets should be eating just as great of food as we do. Making sure pets are healthy and happy is a pet owner’s responsibility after all, and a lot of a pet’s health comes from the foods they eat. That’s why I make sure my parakeet eats really good bird food that’s nutritious and recommended. Not to mention, the feed is also sustainable and ecologically grown. When I get it, I feel good inside since I’m helping support the Earth.

The bird seed I get is my parakeet’s favorite, too. I think my parakeet has good taste and can really detect whether something’s good or not. The bird seed is always nutritious, so I bet my parakeet feels more energetic when they eat it. There’s just something about this bird food that my parakeet really likes, and that’s totally fine with me. I want my bird to be healthy, and with this food they can be.

I think having the right food for your pet is of the utmost importance. That’s why I make sure to have the right bird seed for my parakeet. And in all honesty, it really does bring happiness to my bird. I can tell my bird loves the food, which makes me happy too.

The Great Pellets vs. Seeds Debate

seed_150If you’re looking into purchasing a parrot, you might look to an experienced friend for some advice. Be aware, however, that there’s plenty of misinformation out there regarding a parrot’s dietary needs. Some people swear by a diet of seeds alone because, they say, that’s what the birds would eat in the wild. Unfortunately, that viewpoint fails to consider a parrot’s natural desire and physiological need for variety.

A well-balanced diet will mix and match parrot seed with pellets, fruit and maybe even a cracker or two. Establishing a diverse meal plan will actually help to prolong a parrot’s life while also improving plumage color and feather condition. A healthy parrot is a friendly and active one, so be sure to vary the diet immediately if you bird seems sullen or withdrawn.

Farm vs. Non-Farm Bird Food

Non-farm
A wide variety of commercial bird food is available to bird owners. However, bags of mixed birdseed often combine attractive bird food like sunflower seeds with “filler” materials that birds enjoy less. Birds tend to pick out their favorite bird seed and simply leave the rest uneaten. Other birds that favor some of the seeds that were not eaten will then come and eat those seeds.
Farm
Farmed birds fed commercial bird food typically are given very specific scientifically designed pre-blended feed. Examples of commercial bird food for chickens includes: chick starter medicated crumbles, chick grower crumbles, egg layer mash, egg layer pellet, egg layer crumbles, egg producer pellet, and broiler maker med crumbles. Tiny chicks can’t handle pellets. Crumbles are often made by taking the pellets and running them through rollers. Mash is more finely ground.
